Disable Combat Veteran 9/11 War, Farmer, Husband and Dad
Derrick Rima, Moose, is an environmentalist and has always been fascinated by how permaculture can work for a farm. In 2009 he started his professional beer brewing career and worked all over DFW until the pandemic shut down most breweries. He has a passion for creating something out of nothing.
During the pandemic he did hours of research on permaculture and how to start a homestead, and in 2022 he finally found our new home in Payne County, right outside of Stillwater.
He built the farm from the ground up, slaving over compost, homemade plant food, and learning how to create produce that would improve your microbiome in your gut. He has built the farm completely by hand, no tractors. Every single piece of produce that comes from our garden has been cared for by hand. No fertilizers, no herbicides, everything he uses is naturally occurring. He goes out morning and night reviewing the crops and sometimes even hand picking off pests one by one.
His goal is to produce the most nutrient rich produce he can. He has poured his heart and soul into this farm, when you visit you will see that. Since becoming a father, he has always wanted to create a legacy for his two daughters. If you are lucky, you will see them running around the farm gathering up flowers for their side business. They make guest appearances at the markets and deliveries with him, and they love it.
He also built a water collection system to water the crops with, so all water comes from rain. This means the perfect water for plants.
His big heart and work horse nature is what makes him our perfect farmer.
Summer Rima is the mom of the farm. She takes care of the animals including chickens, geese, cats and dogs. She is hoping to expand into more birds and possibly goats or rabbits in the future. You can also find her sowing seeds and managing pests. She loves checking on our hen house and gathering our gmo free heritage eggs. She also manages most marketing aspects of the farm and works with the farmer for sales support.
Summer Rima has worked in marketing for over 15 years, specializing in digital marketing. She has extensive knowledge in small business marketing, and has worked for small to large agencies, investment firms and internally in medium sized businesses leading up their digital marketing department or senior high budget accounts. She also worked on realtor relations for several years where she learned how to network within business relationships. Her true passions are in the farm, and in supporting her family and husband using her marketing talents.
We have two of the happiest girls on the planet, they are a true blessing. We do this all for them. We want to raise them with strong family values and teach them what good for them food looks like. They are excited to start their own business, and cant wait to sell their first flowers.
We have always wanted to train a service dog for Veteran Derrick. After researching the best breed of dog for his disabilites we found a Goldendoodle would be a great fit. We adopted our first doodle in 2021 and named her Poppy for the military flower and because our girls both loved Poppy the troll. We fell in love with Poppy and decided that we wanted to be able to share this gift with others, especially veterans. That's when we adopted Barley in 2023. We are obviously dog people, and love them so much.
